Sometimes when it rains, it pours. Dale Ester shared this wonderful review of The Isle:
Fans of gothic horror are in for a treat with THE ISLE.
Set on the New England coast, John C. Foster’s novel is full of heavy accents, stormy skies and the salty spray of crashing tides, creating an atmosphere so beautifully robust you don’t merely read about it – you live it as you turn page after page with a mix of eager anticipation and the ever-intensifying dread that this author is so skilled at creating.
THE ISLE is a thoroughly enjoyable horror read that I recommend waiting to crack open until the weather calls for storms to roll through over a weekend. The rain pelting the windows amid flashes of lightning and the distant roll of thunder will really set off the novel’s atmosphere, and properly prepare you for the chills waiting to creep up your spine!
Overall, THE ISLE is like a water-color painting by Lovecraft, signed by Clive Barker.
Can’t wait to see what this author comes up with next!
